Not really. Though I don’t think you should have grouped religion in there… religion is a bane to knowledge… just look at what they did to Galileo.

To an ignorant, the only way to know is to search. But, how does religion make you knowledgeable? In order to teach one ought to know and, if religion is good for anything, it shall be understood that religious people are the wisest of all, yet one thing comes in my mind: how could they all contradict each other and yet speak rightly of the same thing? This is a logical fallacy.
Of course, I am waiting for some religious people to be insulted, but understand the things rightly and do not give me any further words that I have not yet spoken or written: I never said they were all wrong, I meant that the method is wrong.

Yes. Knowledge is not what you think in the lines of what happens after our death or how to launch a rocket. It includes everything you see and learn throughout your life like how to walk, how not to step on the rock on your path etc. Eventually, you will also learn how to launch a rocket and once on death, you will learn what happens after death. All mentioned above are merely tools to help us get the knowledge sooner than we deserve to know and ruining it for us. Life gives us the knowledge we need and not what we want.

That begs the question we can “know” anything….a question that can only answered by philosophy. on assumptions that boil down to a religion faith proposition in the end. It the problem of being limited and finite…..

I think you need all three but only to an extent. Religion helps you see the world around you through compassionate eyes; philosophy helps you to understand nature and love the world and yourself; science helps you to think on many different levels and learn how the world works.

Well, without Philosophy there is no Science.
Nothing to explore, nothing to think about.
I think we can live with out religion, to be true I think we all would be farther advanced in the world if we had no religion then we could focus on answering questions instead of being told that THESE are the answers and do not question them.
Which is creative control.
So, I do think we need philosophy and science.

fire was passed on from one caveman to the other without philosophy, religion,or science…..

It depends what questions you ask — I think you can find answers about human nature or human behavior in art.
March 27th, 2010 at 10:25 am
Of course it could. You could discover Velcro without science. You could even get to the moon without a rocket. It is just very very very very very very hard.

Actions speak louder than words, thoughts, religion, science, and philosophy. Knowledge could come from acting alone.

The bankers from the City of London are weeping and wailing, gnashing their teeth and tearing their hair in protest at the prospect of the new regulatory powers to be wielded by Bank of England Governor Mervyn King. Can we believe them or is this all theatre to make us think they’re genuinely concerned?

Silly of former chancellor Alistair Darling to accuse Bank of England manager Mervyn King of being ‘stubborn’ and similar – it just makes King appear like he’s his own guy and not the political poodle the politicians had wished he was. Darling just makes himself look like an idiot. Petulant, too.
