Choose How You’ll Spend Every Moment – Even at the End

I realize it, Morbid title for a post. Still,it’s true. We are all on the proverbial sinking ship. We may not realize when it’s going to sink, but eventually it will sink to the bottom. Our days are numbered and then our number gets called and we find ourselves headed to that smashing all-you-can-eat- chinese-buffet in the sky.

So maybe that’s not the same way you picture it, but you have to concede that we are living on borrowed time. I understand that’s a somewhat depressing assertion coming from a motivational speaker. Someone ought to have me author a book for children and the last page would say, “And they all lived happily ever after – except for Farmer Brown who got hit by a truck the next day on his way to the mailbox.”

There are three scenes that I recall with clarity from that film”Titanic” – the part where the musician plays his violin as they sink- the scene where the captain prefer s to go down with his ship – and the previous scene where they show the fancy high-strung people on the top deck swiling fine wine and listening to classical music while they strain under the effort of attempting to impress each other- in parallel with the dirt poor common folk in the lower decks of the ship who are dancing arm-in-arm to the rich thriving beat of the fiddle’s music – their fingers icky, their hair disheveled, their arms flung out in utter abandonment as their wide toothless grins convey the hope that carries them through despair.

I was struck by the schism of those two pictures of humanity and how they symbolize two very opposite ways to live your life. You can live your life stiff and proper, preoccupied with appearances, measuring the value in others by the oppulence of china or thread count in a sheet, measuring every move as if all the world were staring and you so urgently don’t wish to let them see you fall. Or you can live your life desperately happy in spite of your circumstances – looking for every opportunity to fling out your arms and dance.I will admit that there are numerous times in my existance where I find myself upstairs- lured into that world that whispers to you it’s all about scratching your way to the top of the ship. But it’s not too long before I find myself running back down to the belly of the ship to find the simple folk- to link arms with the toothless guy with the huge grin – and just dance. We don’t know when our ship will sink, only that some day it will go under. Will you go down struggling to grab all your fine things? Will you be playing your fiddle until the very last moment? Will you choose to go down with your ship? Or will you spend your time dancing, arm in arm with the simple folk? The choice is up to you. The days are numbered. See you in the belly of the ship.

I think it is a very valid point about the comments with a valid point to make. If all you are trying to do is build a truck full of backlinks with nothing to offer, what will make the reader come to your site whether no1 comment or no102. The idea of commenting has become a single battlefield for pro marketers to build their backlinks without using any brain power against people who are genuinely interested in getting their point across in a constructive way so the reader wants to visit their site to see what makes them tick.I have only been involved in the blogging sphere for a very short time, and I must say, I find the comments part of increasing frustration when just spammy trash is entered. However I think it works both ways. The blogger has to have the same comitment to reading the replies as to the original blog post, and to that end should ensure the replies are as valid as the content. The atmosphere is changing rapidly out in the consumer search arena, and if the bloggers don’t run with the virtues extolled, then they will find themselves disappearing as quickly as they rose.
