The Medieval Doctrine of the Transcendentals – Properties of Being

© Tatiana Velitchkov

The transcendental doctrine applies to the theological concept that God is supreme and beyond the world. This doctrine views God as a supreme being who manifests Himself awesomely in the world. The doctrine proves that God represents Himself fully in the world.

The Kant philosophy introduces a totally new meaning “the theory of knowledge”. It opposes the transcendental philosophy to the term transcendent. The transcendental philosophy, which goes beyond the knowledge of human being, has totally been changed by this theory. He claims that it should be knowledge in respect of the subject faculty of cognition. Kant argues that something is only transcendental if it plays a role that can make the mind constitute objects for us to be able to experience them in the first place.

The broader difference according to him is the difference between the ordinary knowledge of objects and the transcendental knowledge of how to experience the objects. This theory is based on David Hume’s argument that objects have certain general features that we cannot derive from sense impression we have for them. In other words he feels that the mind must be at a position to experience and contribute the features before making it possible for us to experience the objects as objects.

In all version that I have come across, transcendence simply mean higher or going beyond. The colloquial usage of the term self-transcendence is more like the same as the transcendence meaning. It is all about going above the state of prior form. This philosophy is believed to have been inherited and only modified to its apparent state.

The philosophy of being has raised many views about the existence of God. The latest research seems to be doing nothing to solve this problem and what we see is the increase in resurgence. In the latest centuries, men have been working on the theory of properties to literally review what was passed on by the early researchers. The recent meaning of properties is full of confused terminologies. Every philosopher that comes up claims different review of the state of God. Possibly any philosopher who think that properties are needed for the philosophical solution of some problems, do so with a reason. They commonly think that properties are strongly influenced by the problem itself. The areas most used by philosophers to explain the property theories are the metaphysics, philosophy of language, ethics and epistemology. They have the detailed accounts that feature the principals of properties and their concepts.

Philosophers have proven themselves not worthy to settle idioms for talking about properties. There is confusion all over about the terms and predicates used and the whole thing has no justification.

The Concept of Evil
by Tatiana Velitchkov © 2009

Evil has overtime been known to be the opposite of all that is morally right. Many projected fundamental causes of evil are based on humans as well as outside the welfare of man but they are real and very vital to the sophisticated individuals who major on developing ideas about this concept. Religious traditions have also been struggling to employ the difference between good and bad. Many theological projections have identified and defined evil as anything that differs from the set beliefs, ideas or priorities.

It is from the behavior and the concept of God’s vengeance, that humans have psychologically accepted evil by rationalizing the idea that they have no control over it. Hence things are categorized according to what is deemed to be good or evil. Good ideas are said to come from God while the bad ones come from Satan. This categorization supported by religions outlines some acts as intrinsically evil, but questions arise whether these concepts are healthy or in place of controlling people. Breaching of the will or law or the set God’s commandments is evil from the established common sense judgments.

Human minds are the keepers of all truths depending with their perception of different situations with the awareness of the reality of what is good or evil according to one’s knowledge. Understanding that human minds have magnified proportions of what is good also means that the same individual minds can afford to bear the most horrible evil things and acts which are used to define who your master is.

The acquisition of knowledge of about the divinity of life helps one to live in goodness and promotes one’s spiritual development. This is because by acknowledging God in everyday situations, praying about all difficulties and mistakes that you make leaves you defining what is evil according to your perception of all these situations. You realize that there are right morals and evil ones, you are able to see the other end of balancing between aspects, and in spiritual perspective it’s a responsibility to be true to your self and to your God to avoid evil.

Based on spiritual implementation there are consequences of everything that is done. Hell is a place set where the souls of all evil doers are rewarded. While heaven on the other hand is the place set for doers of what is good and right. Evil has been known to be a spiritual energy or a tool of destruction according to a person’s perception.

PhotonQ-Young solar System

By Donald Swarbrick.

We measure time according to our solar system but, why do we think that our time is the only time measurement in the universe, and why do we assume, every stage of events taking place out there is measured by our time?
It is by us here on earth, but not necessarily by everyone in the universe.

We know there are enormous planets in deep space within our vision, and when we can reach even further we will discover solar systems in a very much bigger scale than ours.

If,life does exist on one of these massive planets,(which it will, of that I have no doubt) their time scale will be very different to ours, as it will be measured according to their solar system which, if so very much larger, will reflect a very much slower pace of time, therefore, their measurements of time and distance to other planets, and galaxies, even their lifespan itself, will be calculated in a completely different manner.

Our solar system, in comparison to one like that, will seem to them, like theirs in a fast forward motion, and our lifespan merely a blip in time, which of course it is, but we have never stopped to think just how insignificant our solar system is, and always assume that we are the superior race in the universe.

Mankind as we know it has many weaknesses, one of them being his lifespan, cut short by sickness, wars, or other disasters that can befall earth, or simply old age which in most cases lasts less than one hundred earth years. A blip in universal time.
We are barely here in this form, before we are gone again, leaving our ideas, or discoveries for future generations to elaborate on, which limits the progress we make.

Another life form evolving in a solar system so much larger than ours, that works in a completely different way to ours, will have evolved much stronger than us, with less weaknesses to shorten their lifespan.
The very fact that their time measurement is so much longer than ours will make their lifespan longer, if not eternal, as their solar system having evolved billions of years before ours would have given them time to perfect life, also given the fact that their ideas and discoveries will not have been hampered by death.

Another reason to believe such a planet as this would have a different time scale is, that if it used our time scale, one side of the planet would be earth years behind the other, or earth years ahead, just as we in Britain are hours behind Australia, or ahead of America, so in theirs, they will have calculated time to suit their solar system, long before time was needed on earth.

Now that puts the measurement of time and distance into a different prospective, which would make the universe a much smaller place for them and would enable them to travel through space without having to worry about distance.

If you look at the universe  through their eyes, the galaxies they, or we can see are not billions of light years away, but only a short journey away in the exceptional conveyances they will have perfected on that planet, therefore they will have reached these stars. They will be able to confirm my theories in my last post that what you are seeing out there is happening now, and not some light reflection from an event that happened light years ago.
It stands to reason that the light source HAS to be there if we can still see it in a structural form, solid or gas, otherwise it would  just be light energy we would see, and we would have nothing to travel to in the case of dying stars.

Scientist contradict themselves by looking out at other solar systems light years away, and recognize a planet orbiting around a star, and when telling us about it lead us to believe what they have witnessed is occurring out there now, but then they try to tell us that the forming galaxies or the light from the dying star they see, happened billions of light years ago, and the event is only reaching us now.
What is the point of looking out into the universe for other life forms if you think the light reflection you are looking at happened many light years ago, because according to their theories, how would we know if the promising planet that could hold life still exists, or if it died, and the light reflection of its death throes have not reached us yet?

If we want to unfold the mysteries of space, we have to take into consideration, that we are only a speck of dust in the universe in comparison to the enormous planets with life on them, and our life span is only a fraction of time in comparison to theirs.
We have to admit our inferiority in the universe, accept that other life forms that may look the same as us, can reach us, and have reached us.
That is what the bible is all about, people from another solar system being on earth.
You do not have to believe the bible but you do have to admit that if such a planet exists, everything I said is possible, and given everything I have said, you have to admit that more than likely such a planet does exist.
Out there in the universe, the measurement of time, and distance IS completely different, and will bring a whole new definition to our observations, and calculations that we have surmised from our lowly position in space.

Shows slices of expansion of universe without ...
Image via Wikipedia

Having read the book “The Bible Code” thanks to my good friend Claire from York, my conclusions are somewhat as controversial as The bible code itself.

Too much time is spent discussing the same subjects, and to use a nuclear holocaust as a prediction as to how the world will end in reference to Armageddon in Revelation, is all too predictable for a book written in the nineteen nineties.

There must be enough similarities between the Hebrew version of the Bible, and the English version of the bible to show some of the so called coded predictions in each of the versions, as there cannot be too many words that do not transfer, otherwise the task would never have been achieved in the first place.
Although it might not show up in the same context, there would be a way to compare the code in the given texts to show where the words arise from. Why has this not been done, and only the Hebrew version used as an example, especially when very few folk speak or understand the Hebrew language now.

If I, or someone else wrote this book now, only a decade later, I, or they, could construe the letters in the bible to tell of incidents that have already occurred, such as the “twin towers catastrophe,” as the way the letters in the Hebrew version, has no real pattern, with the words being formed from letters at random. There are a few examples that are similar, but not enough to be convincing.

The thing that hit me most was the fact that the writer leaves an escape route in case the predictions he made for the years after the books first publication did not come to fruition.
What I mean by an escape route is, he makes a prediction, shows you the code, then gives us a reason why it might be wrong.
If he was so confident that the code really was in the bible there would be no need for any doubts or excuses.

That is just my opinion, but it brings me to the point I wanted to make in the first place.
Quantum Physics, although using certain scientific calculations, also leaves room for error, or as I have called it an escape route, to save face should their theories be proved wrong in the future.

Stephen Hawking’s “Brief history of time” is a theory, and just because it is logical, does not make it right, it has still to be proved right, and will remain a theory until proved otherwise.

Although Einstein made many observations about our solar system, he died leaving theories that have still to be proven today, but some of our scientist take them as fact and make important calculations using them, then IF Einstein is proved to be wrong someday their conclusions from these calculations will be wrong also.
“The distinction between past present and future is only an illusion” is one of Einstein’s theories, also the one that made him famous, is obvious by its name “THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY” theory being the operative word.

How many calculations have been made from “The theory of relativity” and it has still to be proved to be correct?
If it ever comes to light (nice pun) that this theory on the speed of light is wrong, which I am not suggesting IS wrong, then all the calculations will be wrong.
What I am suggesting though, is the assumption that as light travels through space the images we see from our telescopes on earth, means that the source of the light we are looking at happened so many light years ago.

We are misusing Einstein’s theory, omitting the fact that you need the source of the light to still be active in its visual form, if it is being sighted as such.

Light does travel, and light, and the energy emitted from other galaxies reaches earth, and as it travels it widens and disperses throughout the parts of the universe it travels through, introducing the energy back into the universe.
The image of the source of the light, or the object itself, does not travel through the universe, only it’s light and energy, WE are reaching out to that image, therefore the source is still active.

If you take away the source of the light then you just have the light, and energy from that source travelling through space without form, and no visual sighting of the now defunct planet or galaxy.

The idea that what Hubble is seeing as it reaches farther out in space, is planets and galaxies that were formed at the beginning of the universe just after the “big bang” and that the light reflected in Hubble’s mirror are events that took place then, is a wrong assumption, simply because as I said, “you need the source to be still active to be able to see the image”

Proof of this is the fact that Hubble is getting closer images of these forming galaxies, and dieing stars and the image remains the same, no matter how close a picture it takes.
If my theory was wrong, it would mean that when Hubble ‘s closer images came through there would be changes to that image even though it is only magnified.
What I am trying to relate is, the closer Hubble gets, the less light years there are between images, therefore the image should change, but it does not, because the source of light is still there, what Hubble is seeing now, is happening now, and until that realization hits the scientists who hope to view events from the big bang, then they will make wrong assumptions, and calculations.
I have touched on this subject before, and my theory is, “you need the source of the light to be active in solid form to project the images we are now recieving from hubble, therefore these Galaxies are forming now, and the dieing stars are still in the process of dieing”
If I am wrong, and we could span all those light years, at what point would we go through the image of a dieing star and reach the void, or the image of the forming Galaxy to reach it fully formed and in working order, and why would the light energy from a dead star reflect as we see it and not disperse as light energy throughout space, as light does?

It only takes one factual discovery to blow a theory right out of the water, and it wouldn’t be the first time it happened in science.

Which brings me to my next post “TIME” and the way we measure it, and its relevance to this post, but as I say “that is for next week.”

Aristotle’s Metaphysics

Aristotle’s Metaphysics
by Tatiana Velitchkov © 2009

The name Aristotle is often mentioned when talking about philosophy. He is one of the major figures in Greek and western philosophy who mesmerized the world with his great works between 384 BC and 322 BC. Some of Aristotle’s major areas of study were ethics, poetry, logic, theater, metaphysics, rhetoric and music plus others.

Metaphysics on the other hand is one of the first major branches of philosophy and is sometime also refereed to as natural philosophy. This word is derived from two Greek words Meta and physikas which means beyond and physical respectively.  It mainly focuses on explaining the natural and physical universe. Metaphysics also used to be one of way the ancients tried to address scientific questions before modern science was developed.

The traditional branches of metaphysics are cosmology and ontology.  The two are primarily concerned with describing the types of things on earth and the relationship between them in terms of space, time, origins, prospects and features. Some of Aristotle’s works of philosophy laid the foundation for metaphysics that examines nature’s existence without regards of special qualities that explains its being. His metaphysics seeks to give elaborate details on objects, math, matter, God and form. But most of his metaphysics works are influenced by the materials developed by his teacher Plato, namely theory of forms.

Some of the key issues addressed by Aristotle’s metaphysics include describing existence and kinds of things existing in the world. It also tries to explain why things exist as seen despite the changes they undergo and the various ways of understanding the world.  This is slightly different from Plato’s theory of form that described things as being eternal while the world as observed undergoes perpetual change.

In his work called Treatise, Aristotle goes to great length describing the principles of metaphysics as the first philosophy. Here Aristotle’s key emphasis focuses on describing study of a subject matter according to how it is being examined. This is also called study of being qua being or examining being under the aspect of being. He used this to study the principle and causes of beings in an abstract general way.

To help the study have an exhaustive critical look at all of beings in a logical way, Aristotle’s metaphysics divides them into ten distinctive categories.  He describes substance as beings that are unique, independent and that all other beings depend on it.  For instance, the quality of a being depends on the substance. This is also true for quantity of substance which relates to its dimension and total numbers in a group. Moreover non substances are described as beings that only exist in a subject therefore void cannot exist separately with out depending on a substance.

In this video is a brief introduction to Aristotle’s metaphysics

Resurrection of Lazarus by Juan de Flandes, ar...
Image via Wikipedia

By Donald Swarbrick

It is easy to see why certain events, recorded in the bible were classed as miracles when the people who witnessed, and recorded them were so primitive in their ways compared to now.

If you take one of the most important ones, that had the biggest impact on the world, and is still marveled at today, with the outcome being worshiped around the world, then look at it with the knowledge we have today, you have to see that it was no miracle, only a medical operation that is carried out on a regular basis on earth now.

Artificial insemination is carried out everyday around the world with childless couples given help to conceive, and the method is such, that even though the woman has never had sex, she could still give birth to a child.

If the virgin Mary‘s immaculate conception had been carried out today, the world would not think much about it, and certainly not worship her, or the child she bore, as the process she went through to become pregnant would be understood by the people.

Even now, when we know how this virgin birth could have come about, some still think of it as a miracle, performed by God to bring a son into the world who was without sin. The sin supposedly being the act of sex, but could the words “without sin” not just mean, because God’s sperm might have been used, his son, like him would be “without sin?”

The holiness came from the deed of artificial insemination, carried out by a people who were here 2,000 years ago, and had a knowledge so far in advance of us that they knew how to perform this operation then, which would be no big deal to them given the fact that they travelled through space to get here.

Yes, we would still worship the son that was born, because he was the son of God, a vastly more intelligent man from another planet, but would we still worship the mother, as she was only a normal person from earth?

That means that Jesus was born of an earth woman who was made pregnant by sperm donated by a man from heaven, which makes Jesus partly of this earth and partly of another planet, and the only holiness in him was his father, who being so powerful, brough so much exaltation to the world, the people chose to worship him, and everyone involved in the conception.

Nothing holy, just a feat of medical science.

Lazarus was brought back from the dead by Jesus, and Jesus himself came back from the dead, who must have been taught how to use this medical science for the benefit of those who they thought needed it most.

People are brought back from the dead now, although not after such a time dead as Lazarus was, but as our knowledge improves, who is to say that we cannot achieve this in the future.

Everlasting life is promised by God, and he would not have made that promise if he could not attain his goal, and by bringing Lazerus back from the dead, gave us further proof that medical achievements were at such an advanced stage among the heavenly people, and that this promise could be kept.

Healing the sick was a way for Jesus to convince the people of this earth just how powerful the heavenly people were, while carying out feats like, giving sight to the blind man, healing the leper, making the crippled man walk, all of which can be performed in todays world, although maybe not as fast or efficiently as them. YET!

Turning the water into wine is one of the so called miracles lots of people would like to achieve, and I am sure it will be possible one day with dried powdered grapes being used, or some similar method.

The five loaves and two fish, feeding the five thousand is a trick we will need to learn, as the population of the world increases, putting food stocks at risk, incase nature does not take its course and cull the people of the world, as it has in the past.

If and when you read your bible again, think of the deeds that were classed as miracles then, and count how many are achievable now, and how near we are to performing other tasks that would have been classed as miracles then.

It baffles me why, as each step forward mankind takes, most people on earth would still rather believe in the mystique of God and the bible, never wanting to relate our progress to us catching up on a people who are so far in advance of us that they can travel here through space, perform all kinds of deeds that are so outwith our capabilities.

Its OK believing in God, but why hold the ghostly, mystical images they have been brainwashed into believing, instead of realizing, God was no mystical being, he is just an ordinary person who was lucky enough to have originated on a planet that evolved long before earth, giving its people time to achieve the perfect life, the life they have on heaven, for all eternity.

Does Life Have a Meaning?

Does Life Have a Meaning?
by Tatiana Velitchkov © 2009

Even though human beings have acquired more knowledge and material things than it was during the pre-historic era, they still lack a sense of purpose in life. We struggle to understand the meaning of life everyday, but it seems that the more we try to unravel the true meaning of life – the more we plunge into extreme uncertainty. This should not be the case especially during this era when humanity has made many impressive gains. This is the time in which the quality of our lives needs to have improved. Nowadays, life expectancy has increased in almost every corner of the earth even though poverty still casts a smaller shadow.

Despite all this, humanity is still troubled because it is plagued with aimlessness and a sense of drift. Counselors John James and Muriel James describe these happenings as saying that the world is pervaded with a universal hunger. They say that people are hungry to get more from life so that they are more involved into finding the meaning to life. One major reason why people hunger is that they lack a sense of purpose in life. They fail to understand that God is involved with humanity so He has plans for our being. In order for one to be in peace, we must realize what God has in mind for us. Some time back, the Western man possessed a feeling that history moves in a linear fashion right from the beginning to the end. Majority of the people had the conviction that nothing walked with feet alone aimlessly and that there is no life that has to be wasted.

There are explicit meanings to life and creation. Jesus Christ teaching that your hairs are numbered was an assurance to most people. They agreed that God is aware of even the tinniest creation, the tiny birds included. This assurance was, however, strong until the 19th century when there was major intellectual and spiritual shifts in history leading to many scholars viewing the teaching of Jesus and the Bible with skepticism.

The roadmap of life had been granted to humanity by believing in the Bible. According to the Bible, Jesus Christ showed that the purpose of human life is pegged in two supreme principles; one is that of loving the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind. The other one is loving your neighbor as yourself. Jesus reiterated that it is love that will make our lives worthwhile. He further explained that we should first direct our love towards God, then towards one another. It is love therefore that is making our lives what it is. Unless we learn to love, there is no meaning to our lives.

love...
