Why do the Americans give the French no credit for the War of Independence?

Friday, May 28th, 2010

The French were crucial to the victory of George Washington and the Americans against the British, lending vital military aid. The US constitution is based on the writings of French philosophers, and the French erected the Statue of Liberty. How come, despite this, the French are given no credit for anything by the average American, who only takes into account their surrender against the Germans, considering them cowards, and otherwise knowing next to little about France? Is this so easily forgotten? Arguably, without the French, the USA would not exist.

Where Plato and all those other extremely famous ones self described philosophers; or is it one of those things that nobody appreciates until you’re dead?
I guess I should clarify; I am asking who with a PhD is a contemporary philosopher. I’m curious since I’d love to look them up and read their works.

Modern philosophers, such as Immanuel Kant, believed that our universe is a closed system and that we can not know God exists. This thinking marked the departure of the great thinkers, St. Augustine more importantly the Apostle Paul, who without a doubt is the greatest theologian in history, writing fourteen books of the New Testament by the inspiration of a very transcendent God.
