How did the Renaissance impact our modern world in the areas of science, art, and philosophy? Have these been entirely beneficial? Why or why not?

Comparing Eminem, a contemporary rapper, to Socrates or Plato is a grave insult. He offers trivial sentiments and cliché words that rival that of motivational calenders. I think I just lost all faith in the human race.

Unfortunately not one of them seem to have been able to influence modern man. Most of the questions we ask have been pondered and recorded for the good of mankind. I suspect most of us have read some of these works but the majority of modern man has no clue.
