Question by john889743: Has Eminem achieved more in 1 CD than Plato in his whole life?
Some people say that Plato has invented philosophy. But actually, if Plato would have not exist, someone else would have done it, so its actual contribution to philosophy is quite miserable, beside being the first.
On the contrary, EMINEM is one of the greatest modern philosopher if not the greatest philosopher of all time. He is smarter and has more talent. He has learn how to use popular culture and is microphone and his quick flow to communicate his philosophy with the masses. Plato could have barely accomplish this if he was born in the year 2000.
Do you think that Eminem has achieved more in 1 CD than Plato in his whole life? Discuss!

Question by RIP Ajay: Why is it that when u always ask a hot chick who her favorite philosopher is, she’ll ALWAYS say Plato?
I mean Plato is okay, but some of his teachings are primitive and a little too archaic for modern society. What is it with Plato and hot chicks?
Has anyone else noticed this….And where are the hot chicks who like Soren Kierkegaard?

Check out their pages on Wikipedia.
It usually has a ‘pop culture references’ section on pages about historic ideas or people.
Good luck.

Question by melissa v: Why is Plato so easy to read?
The question applies to other many ancient texts that were originally in another language as well but it occurred to me when reading Plato as he is more readable than most modern philosophers! The middle English used in Chaucer is like another language so how can much older works translate into something so similar to modern English? How much interpretation has gone on regarding meaning? Was the structure of languages such as ancient Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew etc. closer to that of modern English than was middle English?
Best answer:
Answer by Dave
It is all in the translating process. The translator typically makes it simpler because the complex nature of Latin or Ancient Greek language texts. They may appear simple in English, that is to your benefit, but not in their original form. Yes English derives some of its words from Latin (or perhaps Greek) but no they are not similar, not more so than Middle English.
What do you think? Answer below!

Best answer:
Answer by Charlie49
Maybe some sort of theoretical physicist like Hawking. Theoretical physicists are pretty much modern day philosophers, except on a more complex level. Any famous theoretical physicist would be similar.

Question by muziqgal: What philosopher can be called a “modern Plato”?
The person needs to have lived in the past 100 years, and they can’t be so obscure that there is no info on them anywhere. I don’t think that I looked in any of the right places.
