Answer by marc Yes, especially the pre-Socratics who lived across the Aegean in Ionia in Asia Minor which is modern Turkey. Many came from the town of Miletus. I believe Thales came from Miletus. I do not not believe that either Greece or Turkey is well know for its modern philosophers. Their best days may be behind them.
